This is just a little place for me to tell you guys a little about how I play my game. It’s nothing too interesting, but I figured some people might like to know!
Households
I play the houses all rotationally. I start on Sunday (except in Part 1, I start on the day the household starts) and play through Saturday night and stop once it hits Sunday morning again. I also play the houses in alphabetical order. So first up is the Brokes, then the Burbs, etc. The only exception was when in Part 1 with all the families so intertwined with their stories. I also play any sims in University last (or it could be considered first depending on if the sim went to college in the beginning or the end of the week) and count their time there as 1 rotational week. After they graduate, they’ll move in somewhere and if they were an end of the week sim, they’ll be ignored for one week. If they moved to college in the beginning of their family’s rotation, they’ll continue to be played as normal.
Modding
I do use mods in my game. I have Sim Blender so that I can fix or check things if necessary, but usually I leave my sims to it if everything is going okay. I don’t give the premades any college degrees with the bat box as I don’t restrict their level ups in their career tracks. I plan to use the bat box to randomize genetics whenever a sim family plans to have a second-born child to avoid clones too.
I use a variety of other mods too that make small tweaks to the game, like apartments having a down payment or a way for sims to take out loans.
My sims also have a risky woohoo chance every time they woohoo. I only Try for Baby if they want a child. Otherwise it’ll be just a regular woohoo, but they can still end up pregnant at a lower percentage.
Aging
I’m keeping the aging for Babies, Toddlers are 5 days so I have a little more time to work on their skills, Children are now 10 days, and Teens are 12 with Teens able to go to college when they have one day left before aging up. They then have the option to go. I haven’t had any sims not go to college yet. I have them adults for 40 days. I left the elders alone. This has all changed a little as I’ve played through and decided what I do and don’t like about each age length. I’ve edited the premade adults in SimPe to have ~10 more days in their ages because I was feeling like time was going too fast for them and wanted them to fit with my new age lengths.
Randomizing
I play my game using randomness a lot of the time. I use a random number generator and apply a number to each aspiration when picking one for my sim. I leave whatever Turn-Ons and Turn-Offs they have when they grow into teenagers as well.
When it comes to naming new babies, I usually use a random number generator and then pick the name that corresponds with that number in a list that either I made, or from the 1000 top baby names from whatever year from the SSA website. I’ve also been known to use the random behindthename name generator when I’m too lazy to pull up either of the other two options.
I can’t really think of anything else to add right now. If there’s something you’re curious about or I missed, let me know and I’ll add it! I wasn’t too sure how to organize this either so I hope the way it’s put together is understandable enough. I’ll probably want to polish it later.
